In the left column of your Kayak.com output window, you’ll have a number of controls for narrowing down the flights to a list that you would actually accept.

Check or uncheck the alternate airports to limit the search. Select which airlines you’re willing to fly, and limit the number of stops which are acceptable to you. Adjust the departure time to reflect what you can manage.

Flights will be ranked in price, from low to high. Make note of the lowest price.

The lowest price may not be your preferred airline, or the airline with whom you have your miles.
