Reader Chris forwards us the confirmation e-mail he received for a car rental at the Abu Dhabi airport, booked on Orbitz. I’m not sure which amuses me most: the base rate, or the extra-hour charge.

Makes the drop charge look like a great deal!

I dont know what car he was renting but he could have bought one, used it for 2 days and then sold it, even if he lost 50% to depreciation he still would have come out ahead!

  2. Rafael from iloveplanes Says:

    Is he renting a Murcielago?

  3. Andy in NC Says:

I don’t think he rented it and it doesn’t seem the rental company actually wants to rent it anyway.

  4. Jeff G Says:

At that price, it’d better come with its own driver!!!

Would love to know what he was hiring… admittedly, we never use Budget, but we’ve been using Europcar since we moved to the UAE in 1998, first Abu Dhabi, and then Dubai, and we pay around 110 AED or approx US$ 35 a day for an economy sized sedan, which they generally upgrade to a mid-size for us.
