USAirways just notified me that they are once again giving free drinks in coach. They say that they want to remain competitive, but are committed to "pay as you go". On a recent bus trip from Mexico City to Guanajuato, the bus company (Primera Plus) gave me a free drink, a free sandwich and a free set of headphones to watch their 2 free movies. ON A BUS. Things that make you say hmmmmm.

Patrizia, if you're happy, I'm happy!

My question re: how the site looks on the Kindle was a legitimate one, not a snide remark. I genuinely would love to know how it looks and reads -- for example, do the sidebars appear, as they do on the website, or does the Kindle solely show the posts? How many posts appear at a time? Etc.

As for getting a Kindle and trying it myself, that will have to be up to Santa...

Hey Marc

Don’t be such a Kindle snob.. get over to amazon and check it out, there are two videos that will tell you in seconds what it does.. I have had mine for nearly a year and can’t tell you how easy and wonderful it is..

also I had NEVER heard of this blog until I got it on my Kindle.. so use it and then comment.. not all of us haul the laptop everywhere and the Kindle version reads just fine thanks. Try it out, THEN get back to us with a real review.. not a smirk… this thing has changed my life as far as reading as I travel. Check it out...

Cranky -- You're sweet to say that, but no need to denigrate yourself here. I would go long CF and short UTB if Kindle subs were a stock market.

Sharyn -- Thanks for the perspective on the Kindle! And I'm with you on reading this (or anything else) for free...

I have a Kindle. Have had it since mid-July. It has totally revolutionized my reading and my travel -- I no longer have to cart a dozen books everywhere I go.

I don't read newsfeeds on it very often (I use Google Reader, so can either read from my desktop or laptop or the Kindle), but it's definitely a handy toy to have.

I'd rather read Upgrade:Travel Better for free on my desktop/laptop, though, rather than pay $1.99/month for it.::grin::

Ah man, my site is only $0.99 a month. Now it has finally been proven that you're twice as valuable as I am.

Heh... well, Amazon, then Newstex, which acts as a middleman, and eventually I do, at pennies on the dollar. Supposedly. We'll see. Not planning on retiring off the Kindle revenues just yet.
