Very nice post. I would like to add that there is a new consolidator site http://www.FlyLink.ca offering cheap flights to all international sectors. I booked my cheap flights to Mumbai on Flylink.ca and saved 300 hundred dollars as compared to other sites.

I like these tips. About region-specific consolidators, you mentioned Chinatown travel agency that specializes in fares to China. In fact if you want to fly to China, the website gochina.travelsuperlink.com is a good one. They had a sharing airfare database from real travelers, and they had a quota request service you can ask airfare from several region-specific consolidators at the same time. I used them so often, I think it is good to recommend.

Hello I realize this page is older but thought if no one else had mentioned it that site59.com has become lastminute.com

Any other new consolidators?

Any advice about buying vouchers or gift cards on line? I am looking to fly to Raleigh Durham on 5/24/08 and return on 5/27/08?

You might also wish to remove skybus from the list since they are no longer flying.

Thanks so much for your tips. I saved so much money in a time of emergency. Don't know how to thank you. I needed to get to Tokyo ASAP. All tickets on sites like Kayak, priceline, orbitz, were over 2000 dollars. I called the airline up directly and begged, still they only offered a hundred dollar discount. After a couple hours of searching on the internet, i came to this site. With the student discount website, I purchased my ticket for 1183 dollars. Almost half price. Thanks so much!
