Have you tried some of the new hotel meta searches yet. I quite like www.hotelpricefinder.com (Hotel Price Finder Dot Com). Has a different, more text based interface which means you can see more options on the one screen and quicker to find the best price. Seems to have good coverage of hotels outside the US too.
